Episode 6.9 is the ninth episode to the sixth season of Primeval.
Synopsis[]
A herd of Scutosaurus is chased into the present by a dangerous Gorgonopsid. Meanwhile, Jess questions her career choice working at the A.R.C, and wonders if she should leave and find a different job.
Plot[]
The episode starts off in the Permian with a herd of Scutosaurus being chased by a Gorgonopsid. As they try to flee from the Gorgonopsid, an anomaly opens up in front of them and the herd goes straight through the anomaly, exiting out into a forest near a car park. The Scutosaurus herd runs out of the forest and onto the car park before slowing down once they realize the Gorgonopsid is no longer chasing them. They proceed to graze on some nearby bushes, but suddenly, the Gorgonopsid runs out of the forest, and after recovering from the sudden change in its surroundings, attacks the Scutosaurus herd. As the herd scatters, the Gorgonopsid singles out one of the Scutosaurus and bites it on the thigh, inflicting a lot of damage. The Scutosaurus wails in pain as it bleeds out and collapses as the Gorgonopsid menacingly stalks towards it. It then lunges for the Scutosaurus' neck and kills it off-screen.
Meanwhile, at the A.R.C, Abby and Connor talk about the second Matt, but they are interrupted by the anomaly detector going off. As they rush to the main hub, Jess informs everyone that the detector is picking up two anomalies, one of which is the alleyway anomaly. Connor and a fully-recovered Kieran offer to go deal with the alleyway anomaly while Matt, Abby, Emily, Jack, and Michael head off to deal with the new anomaly.
When Matt's team arrive at the car park, they find the Gorgonopsid eating the dead Scutosaurus under a tree a few metres from the forest's, with the anomaly not far behind it, and after scanning the surrounding area, they locate the Scutosaurus herd grazing not too far away. However, as they figure out how to deal with the incursion, the Gorgonopsid spots them and charges straight towards them. However, Emily fires her EMD at it, causing it to back away and head straight for the Scutosaurus herd.
Back at the A.R.C, Jess looks over the CCTV footage of Ethan escaping the A.R.C (from Episode 6.5) and wonders if she should leave and find a different job since everything with Ethan and the second Matt is getting out of control for her comfort.
Meanwhile, at the London alleyway anomaly, Connor and Kieran arrive and Connor tells Kieran that he is going through the anomaly to see if he can find the Britannia Beach anomaly and reclaim their EMDs from Project Magnet. Kieran wishes Connor good luck before the latter enters the anomaly. However, upon exiting the anomaly, Connor find out that all of the anomalies in the spaghetti junction have closed and laying in front of where the 2006 Cross Photonics Building anomaly once stood is the decomposing body of the one-armed Albertosaurus that killed Evan's wife. As he investigates the Albertosaurus' corpse, he wonders to himself what had happened after he and Kieran returned to London alleyway anomaly before heading back to the anomaly.
Meanwhile, in the forest by the car park, the team has secured the anomaly, but moments after locking the anomaly, the Gorgonopsid returns, having given up trying to kill another Scutosaurus, and attacks the team. However, a family of four suddenly drives into the car park, despite it being blocked from the public as long as the anomaly remains open, and the Gorgonopsid quickly turns its attention to the family. It attacks the car the family is driving in and in the process, it kills the mother and her son. Matt and Michael fire their EMDs at the Gorgonopsid, forcing it to back away while Abby, Jack, and Emily rescue the father and his daughter.
Back at the London alleyway anomaly, Connor exits the anomaly and tells Kieran to lock the anomaly. As Kieran locks the anomaly, he asks about their EMDs, to which Connor tells him that all of the anomalies in the spaghetti junction have closed, also adding that the one-armed Albertosaurus is dead. Suddenly, an A.R.C car arrives on the scene with a pair of A.R.C soldiers and Jess calls Connor and Kieran, telling them about the situation at the car park anomaly and that Matt's team needs some help. Connor tells her that he and Kieran are on their way and the pair leaves the London Alleyway anomaly to the two soldiers.
Back at the car park, an ambulance arrives to collect the father and his daughter as Becker and his men, who have just arrived, try to collect the mother and son's bodies out form the totalled car. As the team discusses their next course of action, one of the Scutosaurus splits off from the herd attracting the Gorgonopsid, who has been staying by the dead Scutosaurus' corpse after being shot at, and quickly begins to stalk it. However, Matt and Michael quickly herd the Scutosaurus back to its herd before devising a plan to get the Scutosaurus herd and the Gorgonopsid back through the anomaly.
Meanwhile, back at the A.R.C, Jess sees Jenny passing by and asks her for advice. Jenny walks over to the ADD and Jess and asks her what's wrong, to which Jess tells her that she's struggling with the thought of leaving the A.R.C and finding a different job. Jenny tells her about her decision to leave the A.R.C (back in Episode 3.5) and how it wasn't easy and suggests that Jess shouldn't quit, telling her that despite the tough situations she has to face, she has friends here that are willing to help her deal with her problems. Jess thanks Jenny and ponders on Jenny's suggestion while the latter returns to her station.
Back at the car park, Connor and Kieran arrive just in time to help the team herd the Scutosaurus back through the anomaly. Matt goes over the plan, assigning Connor, Becker, Jack, and Emily with Abby to get the Scutosaurs back through the anomaly while he, Kieran, and Michael deal with the Gorgonopsid, who at that point, had ran off somewhere. Abby's group begins to herd the Scutosaurus back toward the anomaly. However, one of the Scutosaurus strays from the group, prompting Abby and Becker to go after it.
Meanwhile, Matt, Michael and Kieran are tracking the Gorgonopside, following its tracks and the path of destroyed trees it had created. However, they realize that it is going back towards the anomaly and head back toward the anomaly site. Back at Abby and Becker, they finally redirect the Scutosaurus back toward the anomaly, but as they begin to herd it back, the Gorgonopside arrives and attacks them. Becker and Abby tries to hold it off as they try to get the Scutosaurus back to the herd, but the Gorgonopsid knocks Abby into a tree as it tries to attack the Scutosaurus. However, Matt, Michael, and Kieran arrive just in time and fire their EMDs at it, knocking it out. They then help Abby and Becker get the stray Scutosaurus back to the anomaly before hauling the Gorgonopsid back through the anomaly. They then lock the anomaly and leave some soldiers to guard it before returning to the A.R.C.
Sometime after the team had returned to the A.R.C, Jess walks over to Jenny and tells her that she made up her mind and decided to stay at the A.R.C before thanking her for helping her. Jenny tells her that she was happy to help before Jess returns to the ADD.
Meanwhile, in the Menagerie, Abby watches Rex, Sid, and Nancy play when Connor enters. They talk for a bit before kissing and after returning Rex, Sid, and Nancy to their enclosure, they leave the Menagerie. However, shortly after they leave, an anomaly opens up in the Tapejara enclosure, startling Rex, Sid, Nancy, the T. rex, and the Tapejara. The scene then changes to a close-up of Rex as he watches an unknown creature exiting the anomaly and attacking the Tapejara.

Errors[]
- When Connor was at the Cretaceous lakeside, the Albertosaurus corpse is in the wrong position. In this episode, its mouth is facing away from the lake. In The Sound of Thunder: Part 2, its mouth was facing toward the lake.
