Ophthalmosaurus is a genus of ichthyosaur that lived from the Middle to Late Jurassic. It is well known for its large eyes, which would have helped it hunt in dark waters.

A pod of Ophthalmosaurus were seen swimming alongside a school of Leedsichthys when a trio of Liopleurodon attacked one of the giant fish. This resulted with the pod scattering, with some members going through an anomaly with several Leedsichthys.
Later, the Ophthalmosaurus pod was seen alongside the school of Leedsichthys by Matt and Kieran, as they investigated what the HMS Gartside's sonar had detected before a Liopleurodon attacked and killed one of the Ophthalmosaurus.
Later, Kieran and Jack used the bathyscaphe to herd the Leedsichthys and Ophthalmosaurus toward the anomaly, but they are once again attacked by the Liopleurodon. All of the Ophthalmosaurus, except for a young one, went back through the anomaly while the young Ophthalmosaurus was caught and killed by the Liopleurodon.
